Speaker: Michael Amendola, MD, MEHP, FACS, FSVS
Description: Following this webinar, LNCs will be able to describe the epidemiology, risk factors, pathophysiology, and clinical presentation of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), including typical and atypical presentations and key complications relevant to medico-legal review. Dr. Amendola will explain the evidence-based diagnostic approach to suspected DVT, including risk stratification tools, laboratory tests, and imaging modalities, and identify common pitfalls in ordering, interpreting, and documenting these studies. He will evaluate the current standard of care for the prevention and management of DVT and apply these standards to case review, chart analysis, and the identification of potential deviations from the standard of care, using many case examples to help LNCs apply the principles learned to their own LNC Practice.
