When Catastrophic Neurological Outcomes Are Not Malpractice: Understanding Risk in Neurocritical Care

Description: ​LNCs will develop the ability to distinguish expected high-risk neurologic outcomes from true malpractice by understanding disease progression, risk factors, and reasonable clinical decision-making in neurocritical care. Participants will also be able to differentiate between poor outcomes and deviations from the standard of care, identify high-risk neurologic conditions in which deterioration may occur despite appropriate management, and analyze clinical scenarios to determine when outcomes are consistent with disease progression versus potential negligence.
