Description: PNW AALNC members and non-members are invited to join our post-conference meeting. All are encouraged to join, even if you did not attend the recent AALNC National Conference.
Discussions will include input from a conference speaker and from conference attendees.
Meeting attendees are encouraged to join the discussion to reinforce professional skills, future
educational needs, and the critical importance of networking across our greater LNC professional
family.

Traumatic Brain Injury, Causation and Recovery


Description: Sometimes, LNCs need to have an advanced understanding of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Second Impact Syndrome to assist the legal teams and the injured patients with regard to injury
recovery and monetary recovery. Participants will gain the additional and updated necessary
knowledge and practical strategies to identify an obvious or subtle brain injury. The presentation
will include updated information about diagnostics and current treatment modalities through a
presentation of case studies and a post-presentation interactive discussion. Presentation will
include a deeper and up-to-date understanding of the full scope of TBI’s long-term consequences
and the specific LNC strategies required to effectively articulate these conditions and their
impact in a legal context.

Case Examples in Forensic Pathology Consulting


Description: Following the presentation, Legal Nurse Consultants (LNCs) will acquire additional
and updated critical knowledge needed to effectively analyze and navigate the complexities of
postmortem reports and death certification records. Nurses will become more adept at identifying
and evaluating other key forensic records and documents, further educating nurses to assist
medicolegal colleagues in the determination of meritorious personal injury, medical malpractice,
and criminal legal cases. Updated information and presentation discussion will include when
nurses will better understand when a consultation by a forensic pathology specialist would be
appropriate and beneficial to further assist with a legal claim.

for Behind-The Scenes LNCs and Expert Nurses.
